Songlines (performance)

The creation of Songlines began in 2019, when Marina Camargo compiled five books with drawings of the land borders of all continents and invited the musician Marcelo Cabral to freely interpret the sequence of border lines with the acoustic bass, making geopolitical boundaries a kind of experimental sound score.

The title Songlines references the sound maps created by the native peoples of Australia: instead of the maps being drawn, they are sung through songs that describe the physical spaces and narrate the paths taken.
