A text is enlarged so that the exhibition room walls are transformed into the line spacing of the text itself. It becomes an almost illegible text because we can only see half of it: the limit between the wall and the ceiling split the words and when the wall meets the ground.
The chosen text for the installation is O Território do Vazio – a praia e o imaginário ocidental (Le territoire de vide – L’Occident et le désir du rivage), a book by Allain Courbin. The text approaches the cultural construction of the beach: the beach represents the articulation point between the earthwork and the ocean, as an uncertain border that enables the superposition and juxtaposition of both activities.
