In The Sheltering Sky, one page of the homonym book is reproduced and glued to the wall and floor. A black paper is suspended above the printed text, partially hiding it – as if the written words had fallen from the black paper to the floor underneath the page.
THE SHELTERING SKY Paper and adhesive on the wall and floor 190 x 100 cm 2008
A series of works related to this specific book was created with The Sheltering Sky. In Horizon (2008), a photograph shows one of the book’s pages slightly curved which encounters a landscape horizon. In Untitled (letters on the wall), letters are placed as if they were penetrating the wall.
